Gouache on black paper
To paint on black paper I first draw the image with a white pencil. Then I paint it in with white gouache. The trick is learning to paint color on top of the white gouache. It takes layers of thin washes of color. To paint in highlights more white needs to be applied and then color again.

Summer is here!
Created as a demo for one of my private summer art students. I was showing composition and use of negative space.
A beautiful hike the first day of summer!
Be inspired to keep art journaling! It's a joyful way to re-create!
